Harmon Robert Hurd was born in Hanover Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania on April 7, 1926.
He was drafted into the Army on
August 3, 1944 at Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. His home of
residence
was listed as Lucerne County, Pennsylvania and his civilian
occupation was listed as student.
He had completed four years of High School and was single with no
dependents.
Private Hurd was killed in
action in Germany, while 1st Battalion was attached to
Combat Command "R" of the 12th Armored Division, during
the attack on the
east bank of the Tauber River, in the movement toward the town of
Bad Mergentheim.
