Anthony John Hrubec was born in E. Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey on October 12, 1917.
Prior to entering military
service he was employed by Liberty Fast Freight
in E. Paterson, New Jersey.
He was drafted into the Army on
January 28, 1941, at Newark, New Jersey. He listed his home of
residence
as Bergen County, New Jersey, and his civilian occupation as
skilled occupation in aircraft building.
He had completed three years of High School and was single with
no dependents.
His religion was listed as Catholic.
The date of his commission could
not be found. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant
on August 4, 1943.
He was assigned to Company A
from the 4th Infantry Division replacement pool
on August 16, 1944.
First Lieutenant Hrubec was killed in action in Germany, in the vicinity of Brandschied, on September 20, 1944.
Anthony J. Hrubec was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Hamm Cemetery, Hamm, Luxembourg Block F Row 10 Grave 232 and was
moved to the permanent
cemetery at Hamm, in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary
cemeteries were shut down.
