Wilbert Lee Harrison was born in Colfax, Guilford County, North Carolina on April 21, 1925.

Prior to entering military service he worked on his father's farm in Guilford County.

He was drafted into the Army on December 30, 1943, at Camp Croft, South Carolina.
He had completed Grammar School and listed his civilian occupation as Farmer.
He was single, with no dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.

Harrison was assigned to Company C from the 4th Infantry Division replacement pool on August 2, 1944.

He was promoted to Private First Class on November 1, 1944.

He was wounded in action in Germany on November 18, 1944 and returned to duty
on November 27, 1944.

He was wounded again on November 29, 1944 and later returned to duty.

 

Private First Class Harrison was killed in action in Germany on February 12, 1945.

Son of John Nash Harrison & Lillie Lael Atkins, PFC Wilbert Lee Harrison was killed in action in Germany.
He was serving with the Fourth division 22nd infantry. He was only 19 years old.

Initially he was buried at a cemetery in Belgium but was returned home and interred at
Jessup Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on March 27, 1949.

Wilbert L. Harrison was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in North Carolina on March 27, 1949.
