William L. Hannon

William L. Hannon was born in Pennsylvania on April 18, 1920.
He was drafted into the Army on
January 20, 1942 at New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. His home
of residence was listed as Giradville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania and his civilian occupation
was listed as Unskilled Transportation Occupations. He had completed two years of High School
and was single with no dependents. His religion was listed as Catholic.
Sergeant Hannon was killed in
action in France during the fighting in the
hedgerow countryside of Normandy.
William L. Hannon was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Pennsylvania.
