Albert V. Hammerberg was born in Carney, Menominee, Michigan
on November 9, 1917. (His enlistment record lists his birth year as 1900.)

He enlisted in the Chemical Warfare Service of the Army on December 28, 1939. His home of residence was listed as
Black River, Michigan and his civilian occupation was listed as Unskilled Occupations In Manufacture Of Miscellaneous
Electrical Equipment. He had completed two years of college and his religion was listed as Protestant.

He was assigned to Headquarters Company as a 641 Field Lineman from the 79th Reinforcement Battalion
on February 14, 1945.

Private First Class Hammerberg was killed in action in Germany in the vicinity of Bad Mergentheim
on April 2, 1945.
