William Guthrie Hall was born in Salem, Livingston County, Kentucky on February 11, 1922.
He was drafted into the Army on
January 28, 1944 at Evansville Indiana. His home of residence was
listed
as Crittenden County, Kentucky and his civilian occupation was
listed as Unskilled Occupations
in Extraction of Minerals. He had completed grammar school and
was single with no dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.
Private Hall was killed in
action in Germany during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest
on December 2, 1944.
He was originally buried in the
Henri-Chapelle temporary cemetery in Block PP Row 2 Grave 26,
and was moved to the permanent Henri-Chapelle cemetery in the
1947-1949 time frame,
when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
