John Joseph Halloran Jr. was born in Somerville, Middlesex County, Massachusetts on November 4, 1917.
Prior to entering military
service he was employed at the Sunbeam Electric Manufacturing
Company
in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
He was drafted into the Army on
February 26, 1942 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. His home of
residence was listed
as Middlesex County, Massachusetts and his civilian occupation
was listed as Skilled Mechanics And Repairmen.
He had completed four years of High School and was single with no
dependents. His religion was listed as Catholic.
He was awarded the Good Conduct
Medal in Headquarters 22nd Infantry Motorized General Orders No.
5,
dated June 8, 1943 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Private First Class Halloran was
killed in action in France, on June 21, 1944,
during the attack against Cherbourg.

John J. Halloran Jr. was buried
in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Massachusetts.
