Earnest Wallace Gordon was born in Round Oak, Jones County, Georgia on January 29, 1919.

He was drafted into the Army on December 28, 1942 at Fort McPherson, Georgia. His home of residence was listed
as Jones County, Georgia, and his civilian occupation was listed as Semiskilled Chainmen, Rodmen,
And Axmen, Surveying. He had completed two years of High School and was single with no dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.

Private First Class Gordon died on June 26, 1944 of wounds received in action on June 10, 1944, in France,
during the attack against the German coastal battery at Crisbecq.

 

 

Earnest W. Gordon was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Georgia.
