Michael Gibney

Michael Gibney was born in Otsego County, New York in 1874.

He enlisted for a period of 3 years as a Private in Company B of the 22nd Infantry on December 4, 1897
at Fort Crook, Nebraska. His enlistment record indicated that he stood 5 feet 11 ½ inches tall, had dark
brown hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. His previous occupation was listed as Laborer.

Private Gibney was killed in action during the Battle of El Caney, Cuba on July 1, 1898.
