Melvin Arthur Geiger was born in Geigertown, Berks County, Pennsylvania on April 9, 1912.

His home of residence was listed as Harrington, Kent County, Delaware and he was married.

Prior to entering military service he was employed by the General Baking Company
in Harrington, Delaware.

His Army Service Number indicates he was drafted into the Army.

He was assigned to Company B from the 92nd Replacement Battalion on November 24, 1944.

He was originally listed as Missing In Action in Germany on November 28, 1944.

Private Geiger's status was changed on December 17, 1944, to Killed In Action on November 28, 1944,
during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest.

 

 

Melvin A. Geiger was originally buried in the temporary cemetery at Henri-Chapelle
in Block II Row 9 Grave 165, and was moved to the permanent cemetery at Henri-Chapelle,
in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
