James Leo Finneran was born in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island on October 16, 1917.
Prior to entering military
service he was employed by the Biltmore Hotel Company
in Providence, Rhode Island.
He was drafted into the Army on
July 30, 1942 at Providence, Rhode Island. His home of residence
was listed as
Providence, Rhode Island and his civilian occupation was listed
as Doorman. He had completed three years
of High School and was single with no dependents. His religion
was listed as Catholic.
He was awarded the Good Conduct
Medal as a Sergeant in Company D in
General Orders No. 14 Headquarters 22nd Infantry dated December
31, 1943
at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Staff Sergeant Finneran died on July 9, 1944 of wounds received in action in France.

Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France in Block H Row 7 Grave
128 and was moved to the permanent

the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
