Patrick J. Faherty was born in Galway, Ireland on March 8, 1906.

He listed his home of residence as Chicago, Illinois.
His religion was listed as Catholic.

His registration card for the draft in 1940 indicated that he was an American citizen.

Prior to entering military service he was employed by Chicago Surface Line
in Chicago, Illinois.

His Army serial number indicates he was drafted into the Army.

He was lightly injured in action on July 11, 1944 and returned to duty on July 13, 1944.

He was wounded in action in Germany on September 16, 1944 and returned to duty
on February 13, 1945.

Private First Class Faherty was killed in action in Germany near the town of Schwirzheim
on March 4, 1945.

 

 

Patrick J. Faherty was originally buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium in Block H Row 9 Grave 221 and his remains were later
transferred and buried in Henri-Chapelle, in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary
cemeteries were shut down.
