Buford W. Edenfield

Buford William Edenfield was born in Cypress, Jackson County, Florida on March 30, 1919.

Prior to entering military service he was employed on his father's farm in Altha, Florida.

He was drafted into the Army on February 21, 1941 at Camp Blanding, Florida. His home of residence
was listed as Jackson County, Florida and his civilian occupation was listed as
Farm Hands,
General Farms. He had completed grammar school and was single with no dependents.

He appears to have taken training in Company L 124th Infantry in the United States.

He was married on June 6, 1942.

Private First Class Edenfield was killed in action in Normandy, France, on June 14, 1944, during
the attack against the Quineville ridge.

 

 

Buford W. Edenfield was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Florida.
