Will Vernon Dodds was born in Prentice County, Mississippi on July 9, 1922.
He was drafted into the Army on
November 5, 1942 at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. His home of
residence was listed
as Prentiss County, Mississippi and his civilian occupation was
listed as Unskilled Sawmill Occupations.
He had completed grammar school and was married.
His religion was listed as Protestant.
Dodds was assigned to Company B
22nd Infantry as a Private First Class on April 12, 1944
at Newton Abbot, Devon, England.
Staff Sergeant Dodds died on
September 16, 1944 from wounds received in action on the
Belgian-German border,
during the 22nd Infantry's first penetration into Germany.
He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in 4th Infantry Division General Orders # 88 dated 30 November 1944.

Will V. Dodds was buried in the
temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Fosse Cemetery, Namur, Belgium and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Mississippi.
