Alfonso De La Garza Jr. was born in McAllen, Hidalgo County, Texas on February 27, 1926.

He was drafted into the Army on April 27, 1944 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His home of residence
was listed as McAllen, Hidalgo County, Texas and his civilian occuaption was listed as student.
He had completed two years of High School and was single with no dependents.

He was assigned to Company C from the 48th Replacement Battalion on February 8, 1945.

Private De La Garza was killed in action in Germany on March 4, 1945, near the town of Schwirzheim.

Alfonso De La Garza Jr. was originally buried in the temporary cemetery at Neuville-en-Condroz
in Block O Row 8 Grave 192, and was moved to the permanent cemetery at Neuville-en-Condroz,
in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
