Leland Davis was born in Port St. Joe, Gulf County, Florida on September 15, 1925.
He was drafted into the Army on
November 2, 1943 at Camp Blanding, Florida. His home of residence
was listed as Altha, Calhoun County, Florida and his civilian
occupation
was listed as Apprentices To Other Construction And Hand Trades.
He had completed two years of High School and was single with
dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.
He was assigned to Company B 22nd Infantry from the 92nd Replacement Battalion on November 24, 1944.
He was transferred to Company A on November 29, 1944.
Private Davis was killed in
action in Germany
during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest.
The entry for Leland
Davis in the casualty lists of the 22nd Infantry for the month of
December 1944.
Note that he was initially listed as Missing In Action which was
later changed to Killed In Action.

Leland Davis was buried in the
temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Henri-Chapelle Cemetery, Eupen, Belgium and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Georgia.
