Glenis Davis was born in Branchland, Lincoln County, West Virginia on February 4, 1924.
He was drafted into the Army on
March 31, 1943 at Fort Thomas, Newport, Kentucky. His home of
residence
was listed as Lincoln County, West Virginia and his civilian
occupation was listed as Farm hands, general farms.
He had completed grammar school and was single with no
dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.
He was assigned as a Private to
Company B 22nd Infantry on June 30, 1944.
He was one of 23 enlisted men assigned to the Company from the
4th Infantry Division replacement pool on that date.
Private Davis was killed in
action in Normandy, France, during the battle for the town of
Periers,
on July 9, 1944.
Glenis Davis was buried in the
temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in West Virginia.
Glenis Davis is buried in Dial Cemetery, Branchland, Lincoln County, West Virginia.
