Lloyd Eugene Davenport was born in Altamont, Daviess County, Missouri on August 10,1924.
He was drafted into the Army on
December 3, 1943 at Louisville, Kentucky. His home of residence
was listed
as Cooper, Kentucky and his civilian occupation was listed as
Farm Hands, General Farms.
He had completed grammar school and was single with dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.
Private Davenport was killed in
action in France,
the day after the liberation of Paris, on August 28, 1944.
Lloyd E. Davenport was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Solers Cemetery, Melun, France in Block G Row 9 Grave 173 and was
moved to the permanent
cemetery at Epinal, in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the
temporary cemeteries were shut down.
