Charles A. Crawford was born in Jennings County, Indiana in 1851.
He enlisted in the Army for a
period of five years at Indianapolis, Indiana on January 18,
1878.
His enlistment record indicated he stood 5 feet 7 ¾ inches tall
had grey eyes, light brown hair
and a light complexion.
Crawford was assigned to Company
D 22nd Infantry at Fort Wayne, Michigan
from the Recruit Depot on January 24, 1878.
From January 24 to April 26,
1878 he was one of 13 soldiers from Company D on Detached Service
at Fort Wayne, Michigan.
Private Crawford died of
dysentery at Fort Clark, Texas on
September 15, 1880.
