Elmer Calloway was born in Beaumont, Perry County, Mississippi on March 26, 1914.

He was drafted into the Army on October 23, 1941 at Fort McClellan, Alabama. His home of residence was listed
as Mobile, Alabama and his civilian occupation was listed as Attendants, recreation and amusement.
He was single with no dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.

Private Calloway was killed in action in France, in the vicinity of the village
of Fontenay-sur-Mer on June 11, 1944.

 

 

Elmer Calloway was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Alabama.
