Emmett William Burgess was born in St. Francis County, Missouri on March 31, 1919.

Prior to entering military service he was employed at the Budd Wheel Manufacturing Company
in Detroit, Michigan.

His Army serial number indicates he was drafted into the Army.

He was assigned to Company B as a Private from the 14th Replacement Depot on December 26, 1944.

Private First Class Burgess died of wounds received in action in Germany

Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Michigan on April 2, 1949.
