Private First Class Burgess died of wounds received in action in Germany
on March 2, 1945.

Emmett W. Burgess was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Michigan on April 2, 1949.
