Edward Joseph Borgna was born in Mendocino, Mendocino County, California on September 29, 1923.
Prior to entering military service he was employed by the Farmer Brothers Company in Oakland, California.
He was drafted into the Army on
December 30, 1942 at San Francisco, California. His home of
residence was listed
as Alameda County, California and his civilian occupation was
listed as bakery products occupations. He had
completed two years of High School and was single with no
dependents. His religion was listed as Catholic.
He was assigned to Company C
from the 4th Infantry Division
replacement pool on June 13, 1944.
Private Borgna was killed in
action in France, during the attack toward the town of Periers,
on July 8, 1944.
Edward J. Borgna was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and later his remains
were
returned to the United States where he was interred in California
on August 9, 1948.
