Lyle Dean Blackman was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 12, 1923.
Prior to entering military
service he was employed by Crown Drug Company
in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was drafted into the Army on
January 20, 1944 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. His home of
residence
was listed as Lyon County, Kansas, and his civilian occupation
was listed as Checkers.
He had completed four years of High School and was single with no
dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.
He was assigned to Company A 22nd Infantry from the 92nd Replacement Battalion on November 25, 1944.
He was transferred to Company D on November 28, 1944.
Private Blackman was killed in
action in Germany during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest
on December 2, 1944.

Lyle D. Blackman was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Henri-Chapelle Cemetery, Eupen, Belgium and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Kansas.
