Ovid Williams Barrett was born in Beaver Dam, Ohio County, Kentucky on September 23, 1910.

He was drafted into the Army on January 8, 1944 at Los Angeles, California. His home of residence was listed as
Los Angeles, California, and his civilian occupation was listed as Semiskilled Machine Shop And Related Occupations.
He had completed four years of High School and was married. His religion was listed as Protestant.

He was assigned to Company D from the 4th Infantry Division replacement pool on August 2, 1944.

Private Barrett was killed in action in Germany on September 17, 1944, during the 22nd Infantry's
first penetration into Germany.

Ovid W. Barrett was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Hamm Cemetery, Hamm, Luxembourg and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Kentucky.
