Oliver Morris Anthony was born in Marion County, Georgia on August 20, 1920.
Prior to entering military
service he was a civilian employee of the U.S. Army Station
Hospital
at Fort Benning, Georgia.
He was drafted into the Army on
June 9, 1944 at Fort McPherson, Georgia. His home of residence
was listed as Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia and his civilian
occupation was listed
as Skilled Mechanics And Repairmen. He had completed grammar
school and was married.
His religion was listed as Protestant.
Private First Class Anthony was
killed in action in Germany in the vicinity of Sellerich,
during the 22nd Infantry's second penetration into Germany on
February 6, 1945.
Oliver M. Anthony was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Georgia.
