Donald Lee Anthony was born in Flat River, St. Francois County, Missouri on June 21, 1925.
Prior to entering military
service he was employed at the Fredericktown Milling Company
in Fredericktown, Missouri.
He was drafted into the Army on
September 16, 1943 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. His home of
residence
was listed as Fredericktown, Madison County, Missouri and his
civilian occupation was listed as student.
He had completed four years of High School and was single with no
dependents. His religion
was listed as Protestant.
He was assigned to Company D
from the 4th Infantry Division
replacement pool on June 13, 1944.
Private Anthony was killed in
action in France in the area between Gonneville and Montebourg,
during the attack against Cherbourg on June 25, 1944.

Donald L. Anthony was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Missouri.
