Virgil Edgar Anderson was born in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota on August 5, 1910.

His home of residence was listed as Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota
and his religion was listed as Protestant.

Prior to entering military service he was employed by the Powell Candy Company in Minneapolis.

His Army serial number indicates he was drafted into the Army.

The application for his grave marker indicates he entered the Army in October 1942.

He was assigned to Company C from the 4th Infantry Division
replacement pool on June 17, 1944.

Private First Class Anderson was killed in action in France in the area near Neuville/Les Forges
on July 9, 1944.

Virgil E. Anderson was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Minnesota.
