Virgil E. Anderson was born in Minnesota on August 5, 1910. (His birth year is noted in one account as 1915.)
He was drafted into the Army on July 26, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. His home of residence was listed as
Hennepin County, Minnesota and his civilian occupation was listed as foreman. He had completed grammar
school and was married. His religion was listed as Protestant.

Private First Class Anderson was killed in action in France in the area near Neuville/Les Forges
on July 9, 1944.

 

 

Virgil E. Anderson was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Minnesota.
