Theodore Michael Alesantrino was born in Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania on November 16, 1913.
He was drafted into the Army at
Greensburg, Pennsylvania, on May 16, 1942. His hometown was
listed as
Connelsvillle, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He had completed
four years of High School,
and he listed his occupation as Architect. He was single, with no
dependents.
His religion was listed as Catholic. Though he was not married he
was the father
of twin daughters born the month he entered the Army.
The date of his assignment to
the 22nd Infantry is unknown but he was with the Regiment
at least by December 1942 as his name is listed in a Company
roster on a menu for the
Christmas Dinner of Company A 22nd Infantry at Camp Gordon,
Georgia in December 1942. *
He was awarded the Good Conduct
Medal as a Private First Class in Headquarters 22nd Infantry
General Orders No. 5 dated June 8, 1943 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Sergeant Alesantrino was killed
in action in France, on June 13, 1944, during the 22nd Infantry's
attack
against the Quineville Ridge, north of Montebourg.

Theodore M. Alesantrino was
buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France in Block N Row 6 Grave
103 and was moved to the permanent
cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, in the 1947-1949 time frame, when
the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
