Henry Steffen

Henry Steffen was born in Holstein, Germany in 1878.

He enlisted for a period of 3 years as a Private in Company D of the 22nd Infantry on October 21, 1898
at Fort Crook, Nebraska. His enlistment record indicated that he stood 5 feet 8 ¼ inches tall, had dark brown hair,
blue eyes and a fair complexion. His previous occupation was listed as Laborer.

Private Steffen died of dysentery at the military hospital at Dagupan in the Philippines on January 20, 1901.

 

 

Henry Steffen was buried in the Philippines. His remains were returned to the United States
aboard the transport Logan on May 18, 1905 and he was re-interred in San Francisco, California.
