Johnnie McMurray was killed by friendly gunship fire on a combat operation
in Binh Dinh Province when he was mistaken for a hostile force.

He was reported as missing in action on October 7, 1967,
that report being changed on October 10, 1967 to killed in action.

The above article reporting the death of Johnnie Mc Murray is incorrect
in stating that 16 other servicemen were killed in the incident. It is also incorrect
in stating that the incident happened in the Mekong Delta.
