Roger Lawson was wounded by a short mortar round while fire was being adjusted for defensive targets, on July 17, 1969
at grid reference ZA027934, at LZ Bass (Polei Kleng airfield) approximately 24 kilometers west/northwest of Kontum.
He died a day later at the 71st Evacuation Hospital at Pleiku.
