RONALD GENE DEWEESE
Ronald Gene DeWeese was born
Sept. 17, 1948 in Licking, Missouri, the son of Lloyd and Deane
DeWeese.
He passed from this life to be with his Lord on Nov. 14, 1969 at
a place of combat in Vietnam at the age of 21 years, 1 month and
28 days.
Ronald grew up in the Licking
community and graduated from Licking High School with the class
of 1966. After high school,
he attended Southwest Baptist College at Bolivar, Missouri where
he majored in Christianity & Bible.
From his childhood Ronald
attended faithfully with his family at the First Baptist Church
in Licking, and accepted Jesus Christ
as his personal Savior at the age of 9. The Lord had some very
special plans for Ronald, on Oct. 24, 1965 he surrendered to
God's call that he should be a preacher of the Gospel. From that
time until his induction into the Army, his life and ministry
touched the lives of many people young and old throughout Texas
County Baptist Association, as he preached in many
of the area churches. He continued to pursue his calling even in
the Army and at the time of his tragic death was serving
as the Field Chaplain's Assistant. He was licensed to preach the
Gospel on July 6, 1966, by the First Baptist Church of Licking.
Ronald enjoyed life. He lived
the outdoors with it's fishing and boating opportunities. He was
inducted into the Army on
Mar. 24, 1969, receiving his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood,
not far from home. He was then stationed at Ft. Ord, California,
where he received his Advanced Infantry Training as rifleman,
graduating July 31, 1969. After a brief stay at home, he was then
sent to Vietnam.
Ronald is survived by his
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd DeWeese of Licking; one brother,
David of St. Louis; four sisters,
Velma Davis of Kansas City, Eula, Dorothy and Beth Ann of
Licking; grandparents Mrs. Sophia DeWeese of Licking,
and Mr. & Mrs. Milt Fox of Galena; and a host of other
friends and relatives.
Ronald was loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held at
the Licking Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 25, 1969.
Interment was in the
