James Allen Cran was born in Dodge County, Minnesota on January 7, 1941. He first enlisted in the Army in 1961
and his last date of re-enlistment was January 28, 1965. He was single and his home of residence was listed as
Hayfield, Dodge County, Minnesota. He deployed to Vietnam on February 16, 1967 and was assigned to
Company A 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry 4th Infantry Division.

James Cran was killed in a battle with NVA forces during Operation Sam Houston,
at grid reference YA600587, approximately 26 kilometers west of Plei Djereng airfield.
