Anastacio Beltran was killed in a battle with NVA forces during Operation Sam Houston, at grid reference YA598614,
approximately 27 kilometers west/northwest of Plei Djereng airfield.

Don Gertenrich, Company A 1/22 Infantry, was in the fight of February 16, 1967.
Don writes:

Beltran was one ballsy guy on the 16th.
Run dodge, jump and shoot from the hip.
Ran out of ammo yelling for more.
Didn't see him then, till the next day.
He went down hard.

and...

I saw Beltran on the 16th.
He was a tiger.
He was like any brave men in any war movie you've seen.
Gritty to the core and running around like he was invulnerable.
He exhausted his ammo yelling for more.
I saw Beltran the next day.
He was finished.
He was just one of the heroes that died that fateful day.
I will remember him always.
