CPL Albert A. Beauchamp's decorations
Allen Beauchamp as a Sophomore in High School 1961
Allen lived across the street from me and my family. He was my first friend when we moved to Redford.
His father sustained severe leg
injuries while serving as a French Freedom Fighter, during WW II.
I think we were sophomores when his father accidently died, due
in part to the lost mobility.
He was the only son and the last
surviving male of his entire family. We talked a number of times
about him going to war,
as he had the chance to avoid the conflict. He too wanted to
serve, as his father had. He would say this while reminising
on the pain, suffering and lost mobility of his father.
Sometimes I wonder if there is
synchronicity, where there may be interconnections between
unfolding events.
This may be one of those moments, as I received this notification
on the day Allen went to war,
November 9, 1968, 45 years ago today.
With the memory of previously
standing before his name, at the Vietnam War Memorial, I pray for
Allen,
his father, mother and sister. May they rest in peace.
