Soldiers distributed information handbills Sept. 30 to address
the residents
of Hayys Aamel and Bayaa and remind the community of the
continued success and ongoing stability achieved during the
holidays in Iraq.
The 2nd Battalion, 5th Brigade, 2nd National Police Division,
conducted several information dissemination operations in Hayys
Aamel
and Bayaa neighborhoods focused on capturing known criminals in
West Rashid throughout the Muslim month of Ramadan.
During the week on Sept. 30-Oct. 5, the Iraqi Security Forces are
celebrating the progress in Iraq, which has witnessed the safest
Ramadan in recent years.
Multi-National Division Baghdad and Iraqi Security Forces
have reported 80 percent fewer violent attacks during the month
of Ramadan
than previous years in the capital city of Baghdad As a result of
the recent security improvements, the NPs of the 2nd Bn., 5th
Bde., 2nd NP Div.,
wanted to remind the community that West Rashid has seen
significant progress in the past year.
The people feel more
comfortable and are able to go walking and shopping, said a
National Policeman assigned to 2nd Bn., 5th Bde., 2nd NP Div.
The holiday of Eid al-Fitr is a great occasion for residents of
Rashid to celebrate the end of Ramadan to enjoy visits with
friends and family
and give gifts to the children of the extended family and
friends.
To further emphasize the stability in Baghdad, the Government of
Iraq extended the holiday to a six-day celebration
to observe this festival from September to October 2008.
The residents of West Rashid
took advantage of the opportunity to celebrate the breaking of
the fast and the overwhelming sense of generosity
and gratitude during this holiday inspired the Iraqi Security
Forces to offer its gratitude to the community for its help in
securing and improving the streets
of West Rashid. One of the handbills disseminated by the National
Police read: Citizens of Rashid, you have seen great
improvements
in your shops and security in your streets. Thank you for
standing up for your neighborhood. You are now able to shop and
live and peace.
The theme of the information dissemination stressed the
importance of community involvement with information sharing and
cooperation with the local ISF.
So far, the residents in West Rashid have made the operations
successful with their positive approach to ISF.
