February 5, 2009
Police officers from 2nd Battalion, 5th
Brigade, 2nd National Police Division, along with Soldiers from
Company A, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st
Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, MND-B,
arrested a suspected murderer in the early morning hours using a
warrant issued by the Baghdad Operations Center.
The patrol detained the suspect in a house in the Bayaa community
and transported the detainee to a nearby Iraqi Police station.

February 7, 2009
BAGHDAD - Iraqi Security Forces partnered with
Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldiers discovered an improvised
explosive
device Feb. 7 while conducting day-time operations in the Rashid
district of southern Baghdad. Iraqi Army soldiers
from the 1st Battalion, 24th Brigade, 6th IA Division, partnered
with Company B, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment,
1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, MND-B, discovered
the IED while conducting operations
in the Saydiyah neighborhood. The patrol safely transported
the device to a joint security station for an ISF explosive
ordnance disposal team to handle.
Police officers from the 2nd Battalion, 5th
Brigade, 2nd National Police Division, partnered with
Company A, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st
Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, MND-B,
detained a suspected criminal while conducting operations in the
Bayaa community in the evening Feb 7.
The NP patrol delivered the detainee to a nearby ISF facility for
additional questioning.

.....at approximately 1:15 p.m. IA Soldiers
from 1st Battalion, 53rd Brigade, 14th IA Division, partnered
with
Company C, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st
Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, MND-B,
detained nine suspected criminals using Baghdad Operations Center
warrants while conducting operations in the Furat neighborhood.
The IA patrol transported the suspects, wanted for
terrorist activity including sectarian violence
and attacks against ISF and CF, to a joint security station for
further processing.

February 9, 2009
Police officers from the 2nd Battalion, 5th
Brigade, 2nd NP Div., partnered with Soldiers from
Company A, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st
BCT, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B, discovered a 107mm rocket
while conducting operations in the Bayaa community. An Iraqi
EOD unit arrived and safely removed the rocket.

February 11, 2009
Eight local nationals were killed and 33
injured when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device
detonated in the West Rashid district
in southwest Baghdad Feb. 11. Iraqi National Police from 2nd
Battalion, 5th Brigade, 2nd NP Division immediately responded
with Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldiers from 1st
Bn., 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Bde., 4th Inf. Div.,
to provide security and first aid. The wounded have been
transported to the Yarmouk Hospital for additional care.
The incident is currently under investigation.

February 23, 2009
Acting on a tip from a Sons of Iraq security
volunteer, Iraqi National Police from the 2nd Battalion, 5th
Brigade, 2nd NP Division,
working with Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry
Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry
Division, discovered a cache
consisting of four 81mm mortar rounds and 15 60mm mortar rounds
in a Bayaa neighborhood at approximately 5:30 p.m., Feb.
23.
A Coalition forces explosive ordnance disposal team responded and
assessed the cache. The mortar rounds had a lot number of 2006
and were in good condition, said Staff Sgt. Isaac Lewis, the
operations sergeant, assigned to the 752nd Explosive Ordnance
Disposal Company.

At approximately 6 a.m. Feb. 25, police
officers from the 5th Brigade, 2nd National Police Division, and
Soldiers from
1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st
Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division,
used a Baghdad Operations Center warrant in the Shurta community
to detain a suspected criminal accused of terrorist
activities.
The combined patrol moved the man to a detention facility for
additional questioning.

February 26, 2009
At approximately 11:30 a.m. Feb. 26, Soldiers
from 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat
Team, 4th Infantry Division,
MND-B and Aamel Iraqi Police responded to an explosion on Highway
8 in the Jaza'ir community near central Baghdad.
As the joint patrol arrived, Iraqi police were already spraying
water onto a burning vehicle. IP rushed the injured driver to a
local hospital
where he later died from his wounds, while other IP remained on
site to direct the congested traffic. Police officers from
the 2nd Battalion,
7th Brigade, 2nd NP Div., conducting a combined patrol with
Paratroopers from 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry
Regiment,
arrived to assist with site security. After assessing the
situation, the combined patrol determined the driver of the
burned vehicle
was transporting an IED that prematurely detonated, causing the
fire. A Coalition forces explosive ordinance disposal team
responded to assist with the investigation.

February 27, 2009
At approximately 12:30 a.m. Feb. 27, a local
Iraqi citizen delivered a large improvised explosive device to
National Police officers
from the 3rd Bn., 5th Bde., 2nd NP Div., working with Soldiers
from 1st Bn., 22nd Inf. Regt., 1st BCT, 4th Inf.
Div., MND-B,
while the two units conducted joint operations in the Shurta
neighborhood in western Bagdad.
The combined patrol safely transported the device to a
joint security station.
