Andrew Charles Harvey was born in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania on January 24, 1911.

He was drafted into the Army on April 25, 1942 at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.
He had completed Grammar School and listed his civilian occupation as Musicians and teachers of music.
At the time of induction he was single with no dependents, and indicated his home of residence as
Cambria County, Pennsylvania. He stood five feet eight inches tall and weighed 119 pounds.

Harvey was with Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 4th Motorized Division at
Camp Gordon, Georgia at least by November 1942. He went through training with the 22nd Infantry
at Camp Gordon, Georgia; Fort Dix, New Jersey; Camp Gordon Johnston, Florida; and
Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He sailed to England aboard the Capetown Castle with his Regiment
on January 18, 1944.

Harvey was awarded the Good Conduct Medal in Headquarters 22nd Infantry General Orders # 5
dated June 8, 1943 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Harvey made the landing on Utah Beach on D-Day June 6, 1944. He was seriously wounded in action
in France during Operation Cobra, the breakout from Normandy, on July 26, 1944. He sustained wounds
from artillery fragments to the hip and buttock, which kept him in hospital from July through October.
He rejoined Headquarters Company on November 12, 1944 and served with his Company through
the rest of the war, and on occupation duty in Germany.

Harvey was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge in Headquarters 22nd Infantry General Orders # 7,
dated September 28, 1944, with an effective date of his award as June 7, 1944.

He returned to the United States with his Regiment aboard the General James Parker in July 1945.
He was with Headquarters Company 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry at Camp Butner, North Carolina,
where he was discharged on September 26, 1945.

Almost no details could be found for Andrew C. Harvey's personal life.
When he registered for the draft in October 1940 he gave as his emergency contact
his brother Albert in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. When he applied for the
World War II compensation from the State of Pennsylvania in 1950,
he gave a New York City, New York address as his home of residence,
and his two sisters living in Pennsylvania as his beneficiaries.

Andrew C. Harvey died at the age of 64 on February 6, 1975.
The disposition of his remains could not be found.
