during the Regiment's service in the Philippines,
1899-1905. He is armed with the Model 1896
"Krag" rifle, for which he has its bayonet
and a dark blue Mills cartridge belt,
holding the .30-40 caliber rounds.
His field uniform consists of campaign hat,
chambray pullover shirt, khaki trousers,
leggings and shoes.

In his report of August 25, 1900, Major Joseph Wheeler, Jr., of the 34th Infantry U.S.V.,
gave the details of his command of an Expeditionary Column under BG Frederick Funston,
against insurgents in the mountains of Minalungao, from July 16-22, 1900. Part of that command
were 54 men of Company F 22nd Infantry led by 1st Lieutenant David L. Stone.
