Multi-National Division - Baghdad PAO

June 4, 2008

In the Abu T'shir community of southern Baghdad , Soldiers from the 1st Bn., 22nd Inf. Regt., 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B,
captured a suspected criminal at approximately 3 p.m. An hour later, Soldiers from Troop A, 7th Squadron,
10th Cavalry Regiment, discovered two 30mm mortar tubes, three 60mm mortar rounds, five hand grenades, two AK-47 rifles,
homemade explosives, various ammunition and a blasting cap during a security patrol in the Karb de Gla region
of southeastern Baghdad. The Soldiers detained five individuals for questioning pertaining to the incident.

June 20, 2008

Soldiers from the 22nd Inf. Regt., 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., responded to a tip and detained a suspected criminal in the Saha neighborhood
at approximately 1 a.m. June 20. The patrol returned to a nearby CF base to further question the suspect.

June 22, 2008

Soldiers from Company A, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment shot four criminals after receiving fire
during a drive-by shooting in the Aamel neighborhood at approximately 9:30 pm, June 22.
The patrol returned fire at the speeding vehicle. About 10:30 pm another patrol, from 2nd BN 5th BDE, 2nd Iraqi
National Police Division, and partnered with 1-22 Inf Regt., found the same vehicle stopped in another neighborhood
and evacuated the four wounded occupants to a local hospital for treatment while maintaining custody
of the suspects and also recovering a pistol used in the attack.

June 23, 2008

A Sons of Iraq (Abna al-Iraq) member turned in 2 RPG launchers and an undisclosed quantity of 7.62mm rounds
to Soldiers from Company A, 1st BN 22nd Inf Regt., at a combat outpost
in the Aamel neighborhood at approximately 11:45 pm, June 23.

Responding to a tip, Soldiers from Company C 1st BN 22nd Inf Regt., conducted an operation
and detained 14 suspected criminals at approximately 7 pm, June 23 in the Jihad market area.
The patrol returned to a combat outpost at about 9 pm with the suspects for additional questioning.
At approximately 1 am June 24 one suspect was arrested and processed while the others were released.

June 26, 2008

BAGHDAD - Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers detained three suspected criminals June 25-26 in the Rashid district
of southern Baghdad. At approximately 9:45 p.m., June 25, Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team,
4th Infantry Division, detained a suspected Special Groups criminal cell leader in the Shurta neighborhood. 
At approximately 1:15 a.m., June 26, 4th Inf. Div. Soldiers detained a suspected Sunni criminal  in the same neighborhood.
 Less than two hours later, 4th Inf. Div. Soldiers detained a suspected criminal in the Shurta neighborhood.
The suspect is allegedly responsible for attacks on Iraqi Security and Coalition forces in the Rashid district.
"The 1st Battalion, 22nd Inf. Regiment, and the 1st BCT, continue their efforts to rid the Rashid district of criminals,"
said Maj. Dave Olson, 1st BCT Spokesman, 4th Inf. Div. "Combined patrols with Iraqi Security and Coalition forces
continue on a daily basis and provide a safe and secure environment for the Iraqi people."

Soldiers from the 22nd Infantry Regiment, attached to the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., detained three criminals
in conjunction with a roadside bomb attack in the Zubaida community.
