B Company Veteran Receives ARCOMV

Through the efforts of his former Company Commander Gil Tijerina and several of his
former fellow soldiers, Jim Killian was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Valor,
for actions he performed during the Battle of The Rock, in Binh Dinh Province,
Republic of Vietnam, in June 1970.

Jim's award was in recognition of his actions during the the Battle of The Rock, the largest single engagement
fought by 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry in 1970. As an assistant machine gunner, Jim exposed himself to enemy fire,
and laid down a heavy volume of fire against the enemy, in order to protect his gunner, and help keep the gun operating
to aid his fellow soldiers.

Jim Killian passed away at the age of 68 on August 21, 2018. He had been informed that the
Army Commendation Medal for Valor would be awarded to him and had been proud to be
