E COMPANY/4TH SUPPORT BATTALION – ELIMINATOR

Over the past 30 days, the Eliminators have spent their days training for our upcoming mission, building combat power,
and settling into our new home in Southern Baghdad.   During the Reception, Staging, Onward movement,
and Integration (RSO&I) process in Kuwait, we were able to receive incredible training prior to moving into Iraq.
Several Soldiers commented that it was the best training they have ever received.   In addition, every Soldier
had the opportunity to fire their individual weapons in order to gain confidence in their skills and equipment.

While in Kuwait, we were able to promote PV2 Tracy to Private First Class.   Shortly after arriving in Iraq,
we also promoted Sergeant Kincheloe to Staff Sergeant.   Recently, we were able to award several Soldiers
for their outstanding performance while at the National Training Center.
Seventy-four Soldiers received Army Achievement Medals and three Soldiers received Army Commendation Medals.

We have taken the opportunity to wish the following Soldiers Happy Birthday since we have left Fort Hood:
SPC Hinton (14 Dec); PVT Coleman (16 Dec); SGT Moore (18 Dec); 1LT Hughes (22 Dec); SSG Williams (25 Dec);
PV2 Dickens (26 Dec); SGT Rodriguez (27 Dec); SPC Woosley (27 Dec); SPC Lopez (31 Dec); SPC Lynch (05 Jan);
SPC Kattil (09 Jan); PFC White, L (10 Jan); SGT Chamberlain (10 Jan); PFC Gwosdz (11 Jan); PFC Reiff (15 Jan);
PFC Rosser (15 Jan).

Although we would have preferred to spend our Christmas and New Year’s with you – our loved ones –
the Soldiers of Echo Company have truly united as a family.   Our Soldiers are focused and morale is high
due to the quality of life we are able to have here at Forward Operating Base (FOB) FALCON.
There is a decent size PX which has all we need to get through the next year.

All of our Soldiers are living in buildings and are eating well at a very established Dining Facility.
The building is a “fixer-upper”, but we are all excited about improving our conditions.
SSG Overturf has volunteered to lead our efforts in home improvement.

Our Soldiers continue to train daily while providing seamless logistical support to Task Force 1-22 Infantry.

—Captain Jennifer McDonough (Eliminator 6)

FOB FALCON

The battalion’s new home is in southern Baghdad at a place called Forward Operating Base (FOB) FALCON.
It is a former Iraqi Army compound that was occupied by the Medina Division of the Republican Guard
when the coalition liberated Iraq.   Right now, only A Company lives elsewhere—at FOB LIBERTY.
In the coming days, both C Company and E Company will be moving to other locations.
We will keep you up to date on their arrangements when they leave FOB FALCON.

--------------------

There are several amenities in our FOB: a small PX; gym; a Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Center; Chapel;
and laundry service are some of them.  All of our needs are met by what we find here.

As you can see in some of the pictures, January is the rainy season in Iraq and we have experienced more rain
in the first 30 days deployed than we may see the rest of the year!

------------

We are in the process of improving the force protection measures of our FOB.  As you can see in some of the pictures,
we are covering each window with sandbags to further ensure the safety of our Soldiers.
