Bill Greenlee carving the Hemingway Turkey. Author Ernest Hemingway
served as a reporter with the 22nd Infantry in WWII and after the war
he always sent a smoked turkey to our reunions, although he never attended one.
Each year we carve a smoked turkey in his honor and to kick-off the reunion.
In the background in the gray shirt is Joe Motil, who landed in the first wave on D-Day
as part of 3-22 IN. He is the one who started the transition of the Regimental Society
from a WWII only to an all inclusive organization of 22nd Infantry vets.
Neal Pizzano is in the foreground - his father served with the 22nd during the latter part of WWII.
