1st Battalion 22nd Infantry
Company C Reunion
July 9, 10, and 11, 2004
Plano, Texas
Friday July, 9, C/1/22 members began to greet
each other as they checked into the motel. Most of the group had
not seen each other since April '68.
It didn't take long for pictures taken in Viet Nam to be
displayed and friendships to be renewed. The group went to a
local restaurant for dinner together
and then back to the motel where some stayed up all night
talking.
For the out of state visitors, dinner Friday night had a Texas
flavor. Elmer Hale will remember the waiter's rendition of the
Happy Birthday song.
Saturday, July10 the group spent the morning
casually visiting at the motel.
Larry Konermann, Company Commander in '68, hosted a reception for
the veterans during the afternoon.
Sunday, July 11 The meeting disbanded after the noon meal which was catered courtesy of Bud Roach.
The idea for the weekend was to not to plan too
much. This allowed time for everyone to visit as much as they
wanted.
A lot of handshakes, hugs, smiles, and tears as the veterans and
their families shared experiences indicated it was a success.
