Thomas E. McBride, Jr. was born in Florida on May 14, 1928.

He entered the U.S. Military Academy on July 1, 1946. He graduated 246 out of a class of 671
on June 1, 1950, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. His best subjects were Military Psychology
and Leadership and English and his worst subjects were Military Engineering and Law. In the
Corps of Cadets he was a Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion of the 1st Regiment.

Upon graduation McBride was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry in the Regular Army
on June 2, 1950. He was promoted to the temporary rank of 1st Lieutenant (AUS) on August 17, 1951.

He was promoted to the permanent rank of 1st Lieutenant in the Regular Army on June 2, 1953.
On September 16, 1954 he was promoted to the temporary rank of Captain (AUS).

In 1956 he graduated from the Infantry School Officers Advanced Course.

He was promoted to the permanent rank of Captain in the Regular Army on June 2, 1957.

McBride was given a promotion to the temporary rank of Major (AUS) on December 21, 1961.

In 1963 he graduated from the U.S. Army Defense Intelligence School and also
from the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College.

He was promoted to the permanent rank of Major in the Regular Army on June 2, 1964.

On February 11, 1966 McBride was promoted to the temporary rank of Lieutenant Colonel (AUS).

LTC Thomas E. McBride commanded 1/22 Infantry for approximately six months in 1968.

Colonel Thomas E. McBride died at the age of 86 on December 26, 2014 and is buried in:

Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker, DeKalb County, Georgia
