LTC Steve Adams, an Ohio native, began his career at the United States Military Academy, West Point, graduating in 1994.
He was commissioned as an Armor officer and served his first assignment in 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment at Fort Carson
as a Tank Platoon Leader, Mortar Platoon Leader, and Tank Company Executive Officer. After completion of the
Armor Officer Advanced Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, he moved to Hohenfels, Germany as a member of the
World Class OPFOR, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, at the Combat Maneuver Training Center where he served
as an Assistant Battalion Operations Officer, Rifle Company Commander, and Tank Company Commander from 1999 to 2003.

Upon completion of company command, LTC Adams was selected for the Army G3 Strategist program and attended
Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, earning a Master’s in Public Administration in 2004. Following graduate school,
he served a one-year utilization tour in the Army G3 Strategic War Plans Division and then deployed to Iraq as part of
Multi-National Force-Iraq in Baghdad, serving as an Operations Officer in the Strategic Operations Division. After returning from Baghdad,
LTC Adams attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia, earning a Master’s in Military Studies.

In June 2007 LTC Adams joined 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as the Battalion XO
for the 1st Special Troops Battalion and the Squadron S3 for 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment. As a Battalion XO and Squadron S3,
he deployed again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to southern Baghdad from 2008 to 2009.

In June 2009 LTC Adams assumed duties as the Brigade S3 and moved with the unit to Fort Carson, Colorado. He served
as the Brigade S3 throughout the train up at Fort Carson and then deployed with the Raider Brigade in support of Operation
Enduring Freedom in Kandahar, Afghanistan. For the last part of the deployment, LTC Adams assumed duties as the
Deputy Brigade Commander for Task Force Raider.

LTC Adams is a graduate of the US Military Academy, Ranger School, Airborne School, Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses,
Infantry Mortar Leader’s Course, Marine Command and Staff College, and Harvard University. His awards and decorations include
the Bronze Star Medal with 2OLCs, the Meritorious Service Medal with 1OLC, the Army Commendation Medal with 1OLC,
the Army Achievement Medal with 2OLCs, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Citation,
the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,
and the NATO Medal. He has also been awarded the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutist’s Badge, and Ranger Tab
and the General Staff badge.

LTC Adams is married to Valarie Adams. They have three children Bryce, Brendon and Ashley and reside in Colorado Springs, CO.
Bryce is currently attending college in central Texas.

January 2015 - LTC Steve Adams is the G3 Operations Officer for the National Training Center at
Fort Irwin, CA.

PN2036-1 — 113th Congress (2013-2014) was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 11, 2014
of the nominees for appointment to the rank of Colonel with LTC Steven J. Adams on the list.
